Construction is underway on Clackamas Village, a 24-pod transitional-housing community designed to provide both safety and second chances for Clackamas County residents experiencing homelessness. The project includes a central community center, kitchen, bathrooms, and offices to deliver comprehensive wrap-around care. Commissioner Ben West said the facility’s goal is not only to meet people where they are but also to help them gain the skills needed to secure long-term independence. Each resident will be able to stay for up to a year while receiving treatment, stability support, and life-skills training. Modeled after the nearby Veterans Village, which has successfully housed and transitioned local veterans, the initiative is expected to serve hundreds over time.
